CID ADG seeks govt sanction to apply for DVC chairman post

A BSF constable has been suspended after a Bangaldeshi woman levelled molestation charges against troopers of the patrol party along the border. The incident took place Wednesday at the Border Security Force outpost in Angrail sector in North 24-Parganas district when the woman along with her 7-year-old child,was crossing into India from Bangaldesh.

Circuit house now in Kurseong

A circuit house named “The Orchid” was inaugurated Wednesday by North Bengal Development Minister Gautam Deb at Giddha Pahar in Kurseong of Darjeeling district. The circuit house here was a long pending demand of the hill people,he said. The building was constructed in two years at the cost of Rs 3.5 crore. The circuit house could be used by locals and the tourists visiting here.

Monks carry food to Uttarakhand victims

Monks from the Belur-headquartered Ramakrishna Mission are walking miles carrying food on their shoulders to feed people in the inaccessible villages of flood-ravaged Uttarakhand. Swami Suhitananda,General Secretary of the Mission,told reporters here that sadhus from their monastic order are actively participating in relief work. The monks have distributed food,utensils,candles and matchboxes to about 30 inaccessible villages around Rudraprayag and Gupta Kashi.
