A day after a single bench of the Calcutta High Court dismissed Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee’s petition and allowed the central agencies to interrogate him, the CBI on Friday summoned the MP to appear at its Kolkata office in connection with the school jobs scam on Saturday.

Soon after getting the CBI notice, Banerjee halted his public outreach campaign ‘Jana Sanjog Yatra’ at Sonamukhi of Bankura district and headed to Kolkata.

Before leaving Bankura, he said, “They want to stall this campaign. As soon as I entered Bankura, I was served a notice… They told me to appear at the agency’s Kolkata office at 11am tomorrow. I promise I will resume the yatra with double strength once I am back from Kolkata.”

He added, “I dare the CBI to arrest me if they have any proof of corruption against me.”
