A police officer said that local intelligence agencies had sounded an alert about a possible revenge attack on the accused in the Suhas Shetty murder case.
Months after a 24-year-old Delhi woman was murdered — her body found in the boot of a car — in East London, her husband, the main accused in the case, was purportedly spotted in Gurgaon, sources said.
The Delhi Police had earlier issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against the husband, after he was suspected to have arrived in the national capital, and declared him a Proclaimed Offender (PO) on May 1.

On March 4, sources confirmed, the accused was purportedly seen withdrawing money from a bank in Gurgaon. An officer, privy to the investigation, said he was wearing a mask at the bank.
“He withdrew Rs 4.3 lakh from the bank branch via a cheque and left. CCTV footage from the bank showed he was alone. Before this, he had withdrawn Rs 21,000 from another bank on the same day. But we don’t have footage, so we cannot confirm if he had gone himself or sent someone in his stead,” a source said.
As per the latest status report filed by the SHO of the Palam Village police station in the Delhi High Court, where the matter is currently being heard, details of two banks from where the accused withdrew money were mentioned. These details were collected by the police on April 4.
The High Court, in an earlier hearing, had asked the police to file an updated status report outlining the steps they have taken to arrest the accused.
Further, the status report said the husband’s mobile phone was recovered from an auto-rickshaw driver on March 22.

Sources said the driver told the police that he doesn’t remember whose phone it was. He said he found the phone in his auto and kept it, and started using it after his own phone stopped working.
The report further mentions that the accused’s sister and two relatives — including a Delhi Police officer, who was later suspended — were granted anticipatory bail by the High Court.
“The sister joined the probe on April 13 after being granted anticipatory bail… she was [questioned] in detail, but she did not disclose any information about the main accused. She also disclosed that she lost her mobile phone on March 16 and she registered a report at the police station concerned,” the report said.
Three mobile phones, including that of the Delhi Police official, have been sent for forensic examination. The report further stated that a Rs 50,000 reward was declared in the first week of May for information leading to the husband’s arrest.

The accused had reached Bombay via an Air India flight (AI130) on November 11 before taking another Air India flight (AI442) on November 12 from Bombay to Delhi.
An FIR was lodged last December on a complaint by the victim’s parents. Police registered the case under section 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) on December 3, 2024. After obtaining a legal opinion, police added section 304B IPC (dowry death) in the case.
The parents of the accused were arrested on March 14; the mother is currently out on bail while the father continues to remain in jail.
In April, the High Court had sought a status report in the case while allowing police time to look for the accused. The case came up for hearing on Monday but was not heard. The next date of hearing has been fixed for August 13.
