A 15-year old boy died after he was allegedly thrashed by a group of students outside a government school in Outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri Friday evening.

Police said a case of murder has been registered and seven juveniles have been apprehended.

According to police, the incident took place around 5 pm on Friday. Police said there was an altercation a couple of days ago between the victim and one of the juveniles.

DCP (Outer Delhi) Sachin Sharma said: “The post-mortem examination will reveal the exact cause of death. They (students) had an altercation some days ago. On Friday afternoon, the deceased boy thrashed the accused… By evening, they beat him up. No weapons were used, there was no visible injury.”

The victim’s family members alleged that the school authorities did not do anything.

“They did not do anything. The security guard was there. Why didn’t he alert anyone? When a fight had already broken out in the afternoon, they should have informed or told the police or called the family. The child is no more now, who is responsible?” asked relatives who had gathered outside the victim’s house.

The head of school, Ashok Kumar, refused to give a statement. He said officials in the Directorate of Education have been intimated of the incident.

Further details are awaited.
