BJP’s Loni MLA Nandkishore Gurjar, who got stuck in traffic on the Delhi–Saharanpur road in Ghaziabad’s Loni on Saturday morning, not only pulled up officials for “negligence”, but also ended up managing the traffic himself. He also warned against a protest outside the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s residence if, what he called an “administrative negligence”, was not dealt with.
“I have been standing in the sun since morning and an officer passed in front of me, but did not even stop. This negligence will not be tolerated,” Gurjar said. He spoke to several drivers and assured them that roads in Loni would soon be made pothole-free.
He told the The Indian Express, that corruption and dereliction of duty had become rampant in local policing. “People were stuck in jam for hours. We called the police, but they arrived late.”
“Our complaints are not being taken seriously. Let alone MLAs, they (police) don’t even pay attention to MPs. One can only imagine how they must be behaving with the common people,” Gurjar said.
Keshav Kumar Chaudhary, Additional CP, Ghaziabad, said that “…the allegation will be probed, after which adequate actions will be taken.”
