Ruckus post Lovely’s exit: Scuffle outside his residence, sloganeering by ‘supporters’ at Kanhaiya Kumar’s office

Sunday saw Kumar officially kick off his Lok Sabha poll campaign by holding a roadshow and meeting workers. “During my student life, I lived in Northeast Delhi and now the Congress has given me this opportunity to serve the people. I will fulfil it with full responsibility,” he said.

In a meeting with the workers of the constituency, which included leaders from Gokulpuri, Burari, Mustafabad, Karawal Nagar and Timarpur, he appealed to them to come together and become the pillar of strength of the party and raise their voices to overthrow the “current dictatorial government”.

Kumar will go up against BJP’s Manoj Tiwari.

Meanwhile, Lovely’s supporters also allegedly pushed and chased away ex-Congress MLA, Asif Mohammad Khan, when he arrived outside the former DPCC chief’s residence, following his claims that Lovely will now receive a ticket instead of BJP candidate Harsh Malhotra.

He said, “… If Lovely was upset with the party and wanted to resign, then he should have quietly gone to (Mallikarjun) Kharge ji to do so… but writing all these reasons and giving it to the media will only benefit the BJP.”

Lovely, however, maintained that he was not leaving the Congress.
