Rahul Fazilpuria shooting case: Two arrested for supplying weapons

Accused also involved in another murder in August: Police

Two men were on Sunday arrested in connection with the incident of firing on Haryanvi singer-rapper Rahul Fazilpuria for allegedly supplying weapons used in the crime, police said. The arrested accused are also involved in the case of murder of one Rohit Shokeen in August, they said.

The arrests took place in Delhi’s Najafgarh. The arrested accused have been identified as Sudip from Julana in Haryana’s Jind, and Shakti from Gopalpur in Delhi.

In another operation on August 26, five others were apprehended in the case and four pistols, one countrymade firearm, 18 empty cartridges, six live cartridges, and an Innova car were recovered.

Around four weeks ago, a 24-year-old suspect was also apprehended following an alleged police encounter in Gurgaon.

“During questioning, Sudip and Shakti admitted that they supplied the weapons used in these incidents and an attack on the police. Sudip is involved in three other cases related to illegal possession and supply of weapons in Jind,” a police spokesperson said on Monday.

They were produced in court, after which the police were granted two-day custody for further questioning. An investigation is still underway.

Fazilpuria was shot on the Southern Peripheral Road section near Badshahpur in Gurgaon’s Sector 71 in July. He had escaped unhurt in the incident. The rapper was standing near his SUV when the attackers allegedly arrived in another car and opened fire. Fazilpuria got into his car and sped away. The attackers could not chase him due to the traffic.

According to Fazilpuria, the attackers fired at him multiple times, but neither was he injured, nor was his vehicle damaged. Soon after, a Sonipat resident was arrested who allegedly carried out a recce before the shooting.
