Police said information was received around 6:10 am from Jahangirpuri about multiple cases of suspected food-related illness. When officers reached Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial (BJRM) hospital, doctors informed them that around 150–200 people from Jahangirpuri, Mahendra Park, Samaypur, Bhalswa Dairy, Lal Bagh, and Swaroop Nagar had turned up at the emergency ward since morning with suspected food-related illnesses.

“All the patients were found stable and no one required hospital admission. No case was reported to be serious. The information was shared only for public awareness,” said Dr. Vishesh Yadav, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at BJRM hospital.

Following the alert, police said beat staff and public address systems were used to warn shopkeepers, vendors and residents about the suspected contamination. The information has been shared with the Food Department for further action, officers said.

According to officials, samples of the kuttu atta are likely to be collected and tested to identify the source of the contamination. Spike in cases coincided with the early days of Navratri, when demand for kuttu atta rises sharply across the city, officers said.
