Noida youth kills father with brick over property dispute; arrested

A 19-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly killing his father with a brick following a brawl in Noida’s Sarfabad village on Sunday, police said.

According to the police, the accused, Uday, had been drinking with his father, Gautam (43), when a fight broke out between the two over money for alcohol and the family property.

“Both the father and son were unemployed and were alcoholics. The family had been sustaining themselves through the land they owned. A fight broke out over property and money for alcohol. Both of them were drunk, and the fight escalated,” said Sector 113 Station House Officer (SHO) Krishna Gopal Sharma.

Police said they received information about the incident at the Sector-113 police station on Sunday morning. Senior officers rushed to the spot in Sarfabad, Sector-73, and found Gautam lying dead, with injuries on his head, police added.

“Uday, son of Gautam, resident of Sarfabad, Sector-73, Noida, age 19 years, has killed his father Gautam, son of Kedari Mahashay, aged about 43 years, by hitting him with a brick,” Noida police said in a statement.

Officials added that a forensic team inspected the spot and an inquest report of the body was prepared as part of legal proceedings. “The accused has been taken into custody. Peace and order has been established,” the statement added.

Police said further investigation is underway. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
