A bomb threat note was discovered on a Vistara Airlines flight from London to Delhi on Wednesday morning, police said. A search of the aircraft, however, showed nothing suspicious on board, they added.
According to police, around 8.45 am, the Aircraft Operations Control Centre (AOCC) at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi was alerted that a threatening note was found in the lavatory of the aircraft containing a message, ‘BOMB THIS FLIGHT.’
The flight, landed safely at the IGI Airport at 11.45 am and all passengers disembarked without any issue, officers said.
Following standard security protocol, DCP (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani said a comprehensive search of the aircraft was conducted and no suspicious items or devices were found on board.
Police said they are currently investigating the matter.
A Vistara spokesperson said: “A security concern was noted by our staff operating Vistara flight UK 018, enroute from London to Delhi on October 9, 2024. In line with the protocol, the relevant authorities were immediately informed and the aircraft was taken to the isolation bay for mandatory checks, after landing safely at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. We fully cooperated with the relevant authorities in completing the necessary security checks. At Vistara, the safety of our customers, crew and aircraft is paramount.”
