A day after he was released from Tihar Jail, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday visited Prachin Hanuman Mandir at Connaught Place and said that Lord Hanuman’s blessings have always been with him in his “fight against injustice”.
The AAP convenor arrived at the temple around noon, accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal, former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia as well as party leaders Sanjay Singh and Saurabh Bharadwaj.
The temple’s Mahant welcomed the Delhi chief minister with a tilak, presenting him with Bajrang Bali’s mace and a sacred triangular flag. Kejriwal meditated with his wife and offered water to the Shivling. He also shared a video of his visit on X.
In a post, he said, “Today, along with my wife Sunita Kejriwal and other companions, I visited the ancient Hanuman temple in Connaught Place and worshiped Lord Hanuman and received his blessings. In this fight against injustice, Lord Hanuman’s blessings have always been with us. I prayed to the Lord for everyone’s happiness and prosperity. May the Lord keep this courage in all of us in this fight to save the country.”
Sisodia, quoting a couplet from the Hanuman Chalisa, wrote on X, “Today, I visited the ancient Hanuman temple in Delhi with Arvind Kejriwal and took blessings of Hanuman ji. It is the grace of Hanuman ji, due to which, despite all the conspiracies, Arvind Kejriwal and all of us are among you all. May Lord Bajrangbali keep his blessings on all the people of Delhi and remove the troubles of everyone.”
Sisodia and Singh had previously visited the temple after being granted bail in the liquor policy case.
The AAP also shared a video and photo of Kejriwal and his wife and other party leaders offering prayers at Hanuman temple on its official X handle.
“CM Arvind Kejriwal, who came out of jail after fighting a fake case and dictatorship, prayed for the peace and happiness of all the country’s people by visiting and worshipping Anjani Putra Hanuman Ji and Lord Bholenath Ji in the ancient Hanuman temple of Connaught Place,” AAP said in a post. “It was with the blessings of Lord Hanuman that Arvind Kejriwal fought strongly against the dictator even in jail,” the post read.
Kejriwal had last visited Hanuman Mandir during the recent Lok Sabha elections, on June 2, before his interim bail granted by the Supreme Court in the excise policy case ended.
