Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had come to power around the same time but there was a world of a difference between what both have been able to achieve since then, the BJP said at outreach events in the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections Sunday.
As a part of the BJP’s ongoing bid seeking to “expose” the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government, the BJP organised meetings at 17 Assembly constituencies in Delhi where it compared the achievements of PM Modi against the lack thereof of the Delhi chief minister.
The Delhi Assembly constituencies where the BJP held these meetings included Badarpur, Janakpuri, Rohini, Moti Nagar, Bijwasan, Mehrauli, Seemapuri, Mustafabad, Kondli, Trinagar, Tilak Nagar, Badli, Kirari, Shakur Basti, Sadar Bazar, Madipur, and Malviya Nagar.
National General Secretary Vinod Tawde underlined that PM Modi assumed power at the Centre and Kejriwal in Delhi within a gap of almost a year but there was a significant difference in their achievements.
“Today not only the country but the whole world is praising the Modi government for what it has done for crores of people of the country whereas the Kejriwal government of Delhi is still making allegations and counter-allegations,” Tawde alleged. “Due to the dirty politics of Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi was deprived of many schemes of the Central Government,” he added.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva alleged it was because he didn’t do any work worth mentioning that Kejriwal could not go among the general public and tell them about it.
“Today Kejriwal’s shining face is visible at Mohalla Clinic but even basic medicines are not available. BJP will work on, and solve, the problems raised by the people of Delhi and the suggestions given by them in these Jan Chetna Sabhas,” Sachdeva said.
BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh argued that while the Central Government was “writing a new saga of development”, the Delhi chief minister was “involved in corruption” and joining forces with Opposition parties “to hide” his corruption. “Opposition unity and ordinance are just an excuse,” Chugh said.
