The Delhi Police has registered an FIR against IAS officer Udit Prakash Rai for allegedly forging a document, on the complaint of Special Secretary Vigilance YVVJ Rajasekhar.
This comes amid the ongoing tussle between the two officers, and a few weeks after it was first reported that Rai, former Delhi Jal Board (DJB) chief, had allegedly razed down a heritage structure to build his new official residence.
The fresh FIR states that discrepancies were found in the annual performance appraisal report of Rai from 2017-22. As per the complaint, Rai allegedly forged the signatures of two senior reviewing officers on his APAR form.
As per the letter to Delhi Police, the Ministry of Home Affairs, on July 4, informed the Delhi government that Rai had not submitted his assessment report online and has downloaded it manually. The vigilance department examined the matter and after enquiry, it found that Rai had forged the signatures of his reviewing officers, according to allegations. Rajasekhar alleged that the services department sent Rai’s form to four of his reporting officers and four reviewing officers. Two of them said they had not reviewed his performance.
Rai did not respond to calls and messages for comment.
