Hit by vehicle, Ghaziabad man dies after falling from Delhi flyover

According to Delhi Police, the incident occurred around midnight at the Manglam Cut Flyover in Pandav Nagar police station limits.

A 49-year-old man was killed after an unknown vehicle hit him on the NH-24 in East Delhi, throwing him off a flyover early on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Kumar Agarwal, a resident of Ghaziabad, the Delhi Police said, adding that they are yet to ascertain the sequence of events that led to the accident.

According to the police, the incident occurred around midnight at the Manglam Cut Flyover in Pandav Nagar police station limits.

On receiving an alert, the police rushed to the Manglam Cut Flyover and found a car and a two-wheeler in a damaged condition.

An autorickshaw driver who was passing by had already shifted the injured person to the hospital by then, said a police officer. The doctor told the police that the injured person was brought dead.

“The auto driver, Amit Kumar, who is a resident of Pandav Nagar, told the hospital that he saw a man fall from the flyover near Manglam Cut onto the NH-24 service road while he was driving his autorickshaw towards Ghazipur around midnight. The victim was grievously injured. With the help of 2–3 bystanders, Kumar shifted the injured person to his vehicle and rushed him to LBS Hospital,” the officer said.

It is suspected that an unknown heavy vehicle hit the victim on the flyover, causing him to fall.

The police have registered a case based on the auto driver’s complaint and launched an investigation.
