Former Delhi Commissioner of Police SBK Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as the new Chief of Delhi Prisons (Tihar), according to an order issued by the Delhi government on Saturday. He was previously serving as the Director General of Home Guards.
Until Thursday, Singh had also been holding additional charge as the Commissioner of Police. The stint lasted 21 days. He was succeeded by 1992-batch IPS officer Satish Golcha, following a directive from the Union Home Ministry. The change in leadership came a day after Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked at her Civil Lines camp office in North Delhi.
Prior to his appointment as the new police chief, Satish Golcha was holding the charge of Director General (Prisons).
The Delhi government’s Home Department has also appointed 1991-batch IPS officer Nuzhat Hassan as the new Director General of Home Guards, and Virender Singh Chahal as the new Director General of Civil Defence
Hassan was previously posted as Special Commissioner of Police (Human Resource Division), while Chahal was serving as Special Commissioner of Police (Licensing and Legal Division) in Delhi.
