When Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) employees reported to work at Yamuna Bank on July 24 morning, the walls of the compound and a few train coaches were covered with graffiti.

A case was registered at Yamuna Bank police station. During investigation, as officers started scanning CCTV camera footage, they spotted two men entering the premises around 12.15 am after crossing a 15-foot wall using ropes.

“For the next five hours, the accused painted the walls and some train coaches. At 5 am, both left the metro yard,” a police officer said.

The Delhi Police now plans to issue lookout circulars against the accused — both Spanish nationals — the officer said.

After allegedly leaving the yard, the duo boarded an auto and went to their hotel in Old Delhi’s Paharganj, the officer also said.

By the time the graffiti on the walls were spotted, the accused had boarded a flight from the IGI Airport for Spain.

Call detail records of the mobile phones active in the area during the incident helped police zero in on the accused. “They had submitted their identity proofs at the hotel they were staying in. That’s how they were recognised,” an officer added.
