An interactive ‘Ask Me Anything’ with Dr B R Ambedkar’s talking hologram, a radio that lets you travel through time and one of the 1,000 photolithographic reproductions of the Constitution – these were on display at the country’s first ever Constitution Museum inaugurated at O P Jindal Global University in Sonipat on Saturday.

The museum, inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, delves deep into the heart of the Constitution by promoting its makers, its philosophical underpinnings, its provisions, and its evolution through various amendments.

Curated by Anjchita B Nair, the museum also offers audio-visual interactive experiences to the visitors, as well as digital quizzes. Further, while a radio broadcasts narratives of significant historical events from 1940, a robot gives the visitors a tour of the museum.

Mini busts of 300 members of the Constituent Assembly are also neatly displayed in the museum. A bigger bust on display is that of B N Rau, a jurist who was instrumental in drafting the Constitution.

Moreover, the visitors can take a photograph of themselves taking the oath that the leaders took at the stroke of midnight on August 14, 1947. At the ‘Samvidhaan Theatre’, one can watch documentaries and movies inspired by the Constitution.

Throughout the museum, armour-cabled headphones have been installed to help one listen to speeches given at the Constituent Assembly and scholars explaining the philosophy behind the Constitution.

Paintings of prominent judges and jurists can be found on a background of black and hues of yellow. A gallery highlights the 75-year journey of the evolution of the Constitution through landmark judgments and amendments. Contemporary artworks of various artists are also on display throughout the museum.

Another section that stands out is called ‘You Know, Right?’. Visitors can challenge themselves on how well they know their fundamental rights. A question is written on a block and its answer underneath, which can only be revealed by pulling up the block.

The inauguration was also attended by Naveen Jindal, BJP MP and founding chancellor of Jindal Global University and C Rajkumar, founding vice chancellor of the university. Eminent Supreme Court judges like Justice Abhay Oka, Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice K V Viswanathan were speakers at the inauguration.
