A day after a 32-year-old man was detained after he allegedly threw his partner from the sixth floor of a building in Narela, the police said on Wednesday that a fight over the accused marrying another woman triggered the crime.
The police have identified the deceased as Sadhana Singh (27).
According to an officer, the accused, Deepak, told Sadhana that his family was fixing his marriage with another woman. “Upon hearing this, Sadhana became agitated, resulting in an argument between the two. This led to the accused physically abusing her and pushing her off the roof,” the officer added.
“…Suspect Deepak has been detained and a case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered,” DCP (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami said.
The police were informed that a woman was lying lifeless on the road. When Deepak was detained, police said, he was found naked and was throwing stones from the sixth floor at passersby below.
“The woman’s body was also found surrounded by stones, suggesting that Deepak had tried hitting her with the stones as she lay below,” the officer said.
On Deepak’s antics, a senior officer said he doesn’t have any previous record of mental illness. “He was initially answering with irrelevant information, banter and abuse when we had asked him questions. Now he has started to talk normally. The girl’s parents are on the way to Delhi from Aligarh. We hope to get more information from them,” said DCP Swami.
