‘Drunk’ woman in Delhi makes hoax murder call to police, booked

The events stemmed from a call that the woman made around 8 am on Sunday to the Moti Nagar police station.

Her phone was put under surveillance and around 12 pm, police traced her inside a car in the Moti Nagar market area.

In what she thought would be harmless fun, a 24- year-old woman from West Delhi’s Moti Nagar called up the police allegedly in a drunken state, and said that she had killed her boyfriend — only to end up getting booked, said officers.

The events stemmed from a call that the woman made around 8 am on Sunday to the Moti Nagar police station. Soon, officers rushed to her apartment. However, they met her parents there and were told that they had not seen their daughter since the previous night, police said.

Her phone was put under surveillance and around 12 pm, police traced her inside a car in the Moti Nagar market area. “She was drunk, and told the police that it was a prank call,” an officer said.

According to the police, the woman works as a makeup artist in Rajouri Garden and lives with her parents in Moti Nagar. The police reached out to the woman’s boyfriend, and found out that he was unaware about the call, the officer added. The woman was subsequently booked under BNS Section 217.
