Over a hundred schools across Delhi received bomb threat emails early Saturday morning, triggering panic and an immediate security response from authorities.

Police said the threat message, which contained long lists of recipient addresses — including dozens of school principals and administrators — claimed that explosives had been planted on school premises and threatened terrible consequences if they were not defused within 24 hours.

The emails are learnt to have contained the subject line, ‘Bombs placed in your building, react or face disaster’. The sender, who went by the alias ‘Azuk, called themselves “the definition of pure hatred” and warned of mass casualties if the threats were ignored.

Sources said the mails were received at 6.10 am and immediately flagged to the police. Senior officers confirmed that teams were dispatched to several schools, which were swept for explosives by bomb disposal squads. No suspicious object had been found.

On Saturday, three schools, including DPS Dwarka, Sarvodaya Vidyalaya and Krishna Model, also received bomb threats via phone calls.

DPS Dwarka announced the closure of its premises, postponing its mid-term examinations, which were scheduled to be held today. “Dear parents, kindly note that the school will remain closed today, i.e Saturday, 20 September 2025, due to unavoidable circumstances. All school buses and private vans/cabs are being sent back immediately. Parents are requested to kindly be there at the stops to pick up their wards. Parents of private commuters must come to pick up their wards in case they have dropped them off at school. Mid-term exams scheduled for the day have been postponed. Fresh dates will be intimated shortly,” the circular sent by the school read.

The Delhi Police is currently investigating a wider probe regarding a string of bomb threats across schools in the city.

Last week, the Delhi High Court was evacuated due to a bomb threat, which later turned out to be a hoax. This bomb threat was also received via email, where the sender threatened to blow up the judge’s chamber.

In the earlier cases, the Delhi Police had cited the use of a VPN (Virtual Private Network) — an encrypted connection over the Internet which helps the sender hide their identity — to send the emails as the reason for the roadblock in solving them.
