Delhi’s Manan Chandra fails to make last four

Delhi boy Manan Chandra lost in the quarter-final of the Nahar-MIG All India Invitation Snooker hampionship at Mumbai on Monday.

Delhi boy Manan Chandra lost in the quarter-final of the Nahar-MIG All India Invitation Snooker hampionship at Mumbai on Monday. Chandra was defeated in the last eight round by junior national champion Shahbaaz Adil Khan.

In game of fluctuating fortunes,Manan and Khan were 2-2 at one stage of the match. Showing great control,both the players played well in patches. But after that Khan suddenly changed gears. He raced away to take a 5-2 winning lead. Manan tried to stage a comeback but that was not to be. It was forgettable outing for the Manan,who had won the inagural event last year.

Joining Khan in the semis was favourite Pankaj Advani who defeated Petroleum Sports Promotion Board mate Alok Kumar 5-2. The game saw the highest break of 137 in the last frame. Advani had surprisingly lost to Khan in the league stage after he had booked his berth in the last-four stage

Results (Quarterfinals):

Shahbaaz Adil Khan beat Manan Chandra 5-2 (87-40,64-23,38-75,14-97,100-31,78-53,73-31);

Pankaj Advani beat Alok Kumar 5-2 (72-25,62-9,76-0,28-68,0-109(59),85-4,137-0).
