After Delhi man uses ‘derogatory’ language against judge, court refuses to entertain son’s bail plea

The man has been accused of allegedly beating up a person with a rod and a stick, said the Delhi Police.

R G Kar rapeOn August 21, 2023, a 16-year-old girl, heading for school, was raped and murdered in an abandoned area under the jurisdiction of Matigara police station in Siliguri.

A Delhi court recently refused to hear the bail plea of a man, accused of attempted murder, after his father allegedly repeatedly used derogatory language against the court and the judge.

Aman, whose bail plea was being heard, was accused of allegedly beating up a person with a rod and a stick, said the Delhi Police. The FIR was lodged against him on October 2, 2023, after the police received a call from the hospital where the injured person went for treatment. He has been in judicial custody since October 3 of that year.

“This court does not deem it fit to try the matter as per law,” Additional Sessions Judge Gurmohina Kaur said in the order dated November 11, while referring the matter to the principal district and sessions judge, Dwarka.

“Repeatedly on each date of hearing, the father of applicant/accused Aman makes derogatory remarks on the court and undersigned and shouts. The court gives a patient hearing to the father of the applicant/accused whenever he appears before the court and requests to mind his conduct. However, the father of the applicant/accused Aman repeatedly keeps shouting,” the court said.

Even as the counsel for Aman apologised for the conduct of his father, the father was still using derogatory language, noted the court. “The father of the applicant/accused is using unparliamentary language and is trying to demean the court,” Judge Kaur noted.
