Rs 20 lakh jewellery theft at Delhi’s CR Park solved, 2 arrested

After scanning footage from over 30 CCTV cameras, and verifying the entry and exit points, police found that the theft was a two-man job.

Two men have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Delhi’s upscale CR Park locality, in which jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh was stolen, police said Thursday.

A complaint was received on March 16 about the incident which took place when the complainant was out, police said.

After scanning footage from over 30 CCTV cameras, and verifying the entry and exit points, police found that the theft was a two-man job.

Using the footage, their photos were developed and the accused were identified as Prakash Kumar, 34, and Rohit. Both have multiple cases against them, said police.

Rohit was arrested on Wednesday.

“Prakash was arrested from Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, with the help of technical surveillance. The stolen jewellery was recovered,” DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan said.

Prakash has eight cases lodged against him while Rohit, a ‘bad character’ of Malviya Nagar police station, also has eight cases, police said.
