A 65-year-old man, with a four-decade-long criminal record, was arrested for a double murder in the Capital’s Adarsh Nagar area, police said.
The crime took place on April 21 at 10.50 pm. Police said the accused, Nand Kishore, was on his bike at a traffic signal near Parmanand Hospital. Kamal, a driver, was in his car with two others, Amzad and Abid, when Kishore’s bike brushed against the vehicle.
“Kishore got into an argument with the men. The situation escalated when the men reportedly abused the accused, leading Kishore to stab the three,” DCP (Northwest) Bhisham Singh.
Abid, though injured, managed to take Kamal and Amzad to BJRM hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.
“A police team conducted an extensive examination of CCTV footage from the vicinity of the crime scene. During the review, an elderly individual seen near the location at the relevant time raised our suspicion,” said the DCP.
For 14 days, Kishore was monitored by police via video footage. On Saturday night, his location was verified to be near Model Town. He was then arrested from his hideout, police said.
After his arrest, police analysed his criminal record and said he is involved in several cases of attempt to murder and cases under the Arms Act.
