Cinematographer held after Iranian filmmaker alleges molestation

The woman,in her complaint,said Haidar had come to her house on the evening of August 5 to discuss a project and deliver some equipment. “He came to my house and first asked me for a glass of water. He sat for a while and later forced himself on me. He touched me inappropriately and forcefully kissed me. I tried to raise an alarm and push him back but failed,” her complaint said.

The woman said he stopped when she reminded him that he was married and had a baby boy.

Police quoted Haidar as telling the woman that he would “lose everything in life” if she were to complain.

The woman later approached police and registered a complaint following which Haider was arrested.

“We have arrested the accused on the charge of molestation and have also informed his family about the arrest. We have also confiscated his phone. An investigation is on,” an officer said.
