The Human Resource Development Ministry has issued a showcause notice to Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh, asking him to explain the circumstances under which he had introduced the controversial Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) as well as other allegations against him.
This, sources say, could even lead to his removal.
Singh has been given 15 days to respond. The FYUP, introduced by the UPA government, was scrapped in June last year after the NDA government came to power.

The notice to Singh was sent on Tuesday after a nod from President Pranab Mukherjee, who is the Visitor of central universities.
Singh has been in the midst of controversy ever since the introduction of the FYUP. His term ends in October this year.
The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has also been demanding Singh’s removal and had also released a white paper, targeting the V-C .
