For the fourth time, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal will contest from the New Delhi Assembly seat during the upcoming Assembly elections. Releasing its fourth and final list of 38 candidates on Sunday, the party has retained 36 sitting MLAs and dropped two.
Chief Minister Atishi has been fielded from Kalkaji for the second time while ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain and Mukesh Ahlawat will contest from their respective seats.
After releasing the final list, Kejriwal shared on X: “Today, Aam Aadmi Party announced its candidates on all 70 seats. The party is contesting elections with full confidence and preparation. BJP is missing. They have no CM face, no team, no planning, and no vision for Delhi. They have only one slogan, only one policy, and only one mission ‘Remove Kejriwal’. Ask them what they did in 5 years, and they reply — Kejriwal ko bahut gaali di.”
Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also took to X urging people to vote for the AAP. “… Under the leadership of Kejriwal, we are going among the people, demanding that we be given five more years, so that we can further work in education, health, electricity and water…”
Hitting back, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said Kejriwal’s claim that he has development, vision and a capable team is utterly “ridiculous”. The BJP is yet to announce its picks.
The AAP had announced 11 candidates in its first list, 20 candidates in the second list, and one candidate in the third.

The fourth list also includes Somnath Bharti from Malviya Nagar and Durgesh Pathak from Rajinder Nagar. AAP’s Purvanchali face Sanjeev Jha, who won the last polls with the highest majority of votes, has been fielded again from Burari.
Former minister Satyendar Jain, who was in jail in a money laundering case for 18 months till he was released on bail this October, will be running again from Shakur Basti. The party has also repeated Amanatullah Khan from Okhla.
From Mehrauli, the party has fielded Naresh Yadav; he was recently sentenced in a desecration case by a Punjab court.
However, the party dropped its Kasturba Nagar MLA Madan Lal. Instead, it has chosen to field Ramesh Pehalwan, who joined the party Sunday along with his wife and two-time councillor Kusum Lata, from the seat.
The party has decided to field three sitting MLAs’ wives or sons in as many seats. Posh Balyan, wife of AAP leader Naresh Balyan, who was arrested earlier this month in an extortion case, has secured a ticket from the Uttam Nagar. S K Bagga’s son Vikas Bagga has been fielded from Krishna Nagar and Prahlad Sahni’s son Puran Deep Sahni is contesting from Chandni Chowk.
So far, the party has dropped 19 sitting legislators and switched seats of two. This includes Sisodia who has been moved to Jangpura from Patparganj while Mangolpuri sitting MLA Rakhi Birla has been fielded from Madipur.
Besides, the AAP has fielded 10 people from opposition parties — three from Congress and seven from BJP. In the last Assembly polls, AAP had registered a landslide victory by winning 62 of the 70 seats with the BJP bagging the remaining eight seats.
