Four people, including a minor boy, were injured after a light structure fell on them near the stage of the Shri Dharmik Ramleela programme in North Delhi late Monday. According to the Delhi Police, one of the poles bearing the lights fell on the floor during the strong winds and heavy rain Monday night.

The incident took place in front of the main stage where the actors were performing during the programme at 15 August Park, Red Fort, organised by the Nav Shri Dharmik Ramlila Committee.

Manoj Kumar Meena, DCP (North), said, “Around 10.40 pm, during the rain, the structure fell on the ground. We were told that an 11-year-old boy along with two to three other people got stuck. They were removed immediately and sent to the hospital in an ambulance which was stationed outside the park. The child is under observation. We have been told he’s stable.”

The police said others received minor injuries and left after primary treatment.

A video of the incident shows the structure on the ground and people gathering around to rescue the boy and other injured people. A group of men can be seen lifting the structure and pulling out the injured.

The police said legal action will be taken against the organisers and an FIR has been registered at Kotwali police station for alleged negligence.

One of the oldest Ramleela committees in Delhi, the Nav Shri Dharmik Ramlila Committee holds its events at 15 August Park, Red Fort.
