A Tihar prison official said that on Monday an inmate, identified as Javed, was found dead inside the jail. He had been convicted by a court in a robbery and dacoity case in Malviya Nagar.

A 26-year-old inmate of Delhi’s Tihar jail allegedly died by suicide inside the prison complex on Monday evening, jail officers said, adding that an inquiry by a judicial magistrate is underway into the matter.

A Tihar prison official said that on Monday an inmate, identified as Javed, was found dead inside the jail. He had been convicted by a court in a robbery and dacoity case in Malviya Nagar and was lodged in Jail No. 8 after his arrest.
