What is ‘GhostPairing’ and why is CERT-In warning Indian WhatsApp users about it?
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) issued an advisory about an active threat campaign targeting WhatsApp users. The attack involves a new technique known as GhostPairing, where malicious actors hijack WhatsApp accounts by exploiting the popular instant messaging platform’s device-linking feature. The threat actors are able to take over WhatsApp accounts without authorisation.
