Train fare hike from Dec 26: non-AC passengers to pay Rs 10 extra for 500 km
Indian Railways has increased ticket fares for non-AC coaches and AC classes by 2 paise per km, with an expected revenue of Rs 600 crore. The fare hike does not apply to suburban services and ordinary class journeys up to 215 km. This is to support the increasing manpower and overall cost of operations, as the railways continues to expand its network and improve safety.
