Actor Satish Shah passed away due to kidney failure on Saturday. Thousands of fans and well-wishers poured in condolences over the tremendous loss to the Indian film and television industry. These included fans of his cult comedy show Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, which aired on Star One from 2004 to 2006, and on JioHotstar for another season (Take 2) in 2017.
In Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, Sumeet Raghavan portrayed Dr. Sahil Sarabhai, the elder son of Indravardhan Sarabhai, played memorably by Satish Shah. On Saturday evening, Sumeet took to his Instagram handle to share an emotional video to pay tribute to his late co-star. He claimed how till today, fans relate to the show’s characters, but none of them say they have an Indravardhan Sarabhai back home.
“Because there’s only one Indravardhan — that’s Satish kaka (uncle). He’s left all us all today. The bigger this show got, the stronger our bond became. So, whenever we meet each other, that’s how we talk to each other. Today, we’ve lost the karta purush, senior most member of our family. He was struggling for days. Finally, life can be very cruel,” said a visibly emotional Sumeet Raghavan.
“As the elder son of this family, I accept all your condolences. So long, dad! Safe travels! See you on the other side,” he concluded.
He wrote in the caption, “Love you Satish kaka.. Love you dad… We all love you and miss you indu..narad muniiiii.” He referred to what Satish Shah’s character was called by other characters on the show — Narad Muni, the troublemaker.
Not only Sumeet Raghavan, but the younger son of the Sarabhai family — Rajesh Kumar, who played Rosesh Sarabhai in Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai — also posted heartfelt condolences on Instagram. His first post was hours after Satish Shah’s passing. He wrote, “This is the worst hour for me. I still can’t process that Satish ji is no more. All I can say is that it feels like I’ve lost my father.”
“A man full of life and humour… Challenging everything made his name leave his mark as an actor. This is a big, big loss to the industry and us (Sarabhai family). Let’s pray for his departed soul and keep him in your prayers (folded hands emoji),” added Rajesh, captioning the post as “RIP kaka.”

Hours later, Rajesh Kumar shared a selfie of Satish Shah that the late actor had sent to him. “We spoke over this look of yours a couple of days back. Dad, you are a liar. You said you will be back in sometime, never knew that you will show us your back and leave us like this. I miss you. I’m sorry I delayed our meeting. Only if… you know you’ve changed the RIP into RIH forever. REST IN HUMOUR, Dad. Will try to smile like you always (red heart and folded hands emojis),” wrote Rajesh.
