20th Annual Life OK Screen Awards/ Winners

Best  Ensemble Cast

Club 60 (Sanjay Tripathi)

Before making his debut in film direction with Club 60, Sanjay Tripathy made Turning Point, the celebrated science series on DD National. He has also made various award winning science documentaries, shows for BBC and National Geographic besides writing and directing the 52-episode commissioned series Hum for DD National. Screen award for Best Ensemble Cast comprising veteran actors like Farooque Shaikh, Sarika, Satish Shah, Tinu Anand, Raghuvir Yadav and Sharat Saxena for Club 60 is his first film trophy. Satish Shah, mostly known for his comedy films in a career spanning over three decades, is still remembered for the popular ’80s sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai.  Sharat Saxena has about 60 films to his credit in mostly villainous roles in various languages  like Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil films. Sarika, who began her career as a child actor Master Sooraj and later as a heroine with Geet Gaata Chal, returned to Hindi films with Parzania, which got her a National Award for  the Best Actress. Raghubir Yadav, who’s also got several international awards to his credit as an actor,  is also a music composer, singer and set designer.

“It is a great feeling. I am very happy that I got it for this category, Best Ensemble Cast, because all the actors performed well and with this award, they got their due. Though the credit is given to the director, I felt nice that two of my favourite actors Satish Shah and Sharat Saxena were with me. It would have been good if all of them could come as film-making is all about a team and your actors are the soul of your film, and when the credit is given to the ensemble cast what can be better than that. Being pitted against some good films also elevated our spirits.”
— Sanjay Tripathi, director, Club 60

“Of all the films that I have done, Club 60 really deserves this honour of winning in the Best Ensemble Cast category. All the actors and characters in it are very diverse in nature, but the core energy of the film was the chemistry between all of them.”
—Sarika

“It was wonderful to be back on the Screen platform after a long, long time. The last time I went to Screen awards was when I won the trophy for Filmy Chakkar serial in 1995. It was like travelling back in time. It was good fun because that is one place where you get to meet a lot of people who you have not met for a long time. That was a big high for me. I was happy for my director as it is his first directorial venture. It was big occasion for him. I was sad for my friend Farooque Shaikh who I lost.”
—Satish Shah

“I am happy for my director who made his debut with this film.“
—Sharat Saxena
