Is it a lungi or a dhoti? For former cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, either way it is offensive. Superstar Salman Khan‘s latest track Yentamma from Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan has not gone down well with a section on the internet, which feels the music video is in bad taste.

The Hindi-Telugu fusion number, mounted as a celebratory track, features Salman, Venkatesh Daggubati and RRR star Ram Charan in a special appearance. The song, composed by Payal Dev, sung by Vishal Dadlani and Payal, with rap portions by Raftaar, has the three actors dancing wearing their lungi to the energetic beats.

Laxman took to Twitter and wrote that makers of the film showed a “classical outfit” like lungi in a “disgusting manner” in the Yentamma video. “This is highly ridiculous and degrading our South Indian culture. This is not a LUNGI , THIS IS A DHOTI. A classical outfit which is being shown in a DISGUSTING MANNER.”

When another user wrote that they were wearing shoes inside the temple, the former cricketer said better research is the need of the hour. “Nowadays people do anything for money. Won’t they research what is a Lungi and a Dhoti. Even if it’s a set, it’s being projected as a temple. People associated with the movie should realise, no footwear inside the temple premises. Appealing to @CBFC_India to consider to BAN this,” he tweeted.

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, scheduled to release during Eid on April 21, will mark Salman’s return to the big screen in a full-fledged role since his 2019 release Dabangg 3. The action comedy, directed by Farhad Samji, also stars Shehnaaz Gill, Raghav Juyal and Siddharth Nigam.

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is a remake of the 2014 Tamil movie, Veeram, which chronicled the story of man whose four younger brothers wanted him to get married so that they could settle down too.
