Thamma box office collection day 16: Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s horror-comedy flick Thamma had a strong start at the box office with Rs 24 crore. Over the course of two weeks, the film maintained a steady run and managed to hold its own. However, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, which was starting to look like strong competition, and other subsequent releases, have now begun to slow down Thamma’s box office journey. On Wednesday, the film made Rs 1.9 crore, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 125.95 crore.
The Ayushmann-starrer had a strong start, raking in Rs 108.4 crore within its first week of release. During the second week, the film saw a 46 percent jump in collections on Saturday, earning Rs 4.4 crore, followed by another slight rise on Sunday with Rs 4.5 crore. Over the weekend, however, the film witnessed a 66 percent decline, collecting Rs 1.5 crore on Monday. On Tuesday, it saw almost a 50 percent increase as it minted Rs 2.25 crore, only to fall by 15 percent on Wednesday.
Thamma witnessed moderate occupancy trends across key markets. Mumbai and the National Capital Region (NCR) averaged around 14–15%. Cities like Bengaluru (11%), Ahmedabad (12%), and Chandigarh (10.67%) saw comparatively lower turnout. Pune (15.67%), Hyderabad (13.67%), and Lucknow (15.67%) performed moderately.
Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat released in theatres alongside Thamma. The film has proved to be a box office success despite having fewer screens than Thamma. It has maintained a strong hold at the box office since the beginning, and positive word of mouth has helped elongate its theatrical run, giving tough competition to the Ayushmann-starrer. On Wednesday, it earned Rs 1.91 crore—at par with Thamma’s earnings for the day. The romantic drama has managed to collect Rs 70.22 crore at the box office within 16 days of its release.
Paresh Rawal’s The Taj Story, which released in theatres last Friday, hasn’t done exceptionally well but has managed to draw a portion of the audience away from Thamma. The film has collected Rs 10.10 crore within six days of release.
Additionally, the re-release of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali: The Epic is also impacting Thamma’s collections. The blockbuster earned Rs 1.50 crore on Wednesday and has amassed Rs 29.65 crore in total domestic earnings within six days of its re-release.
