BSP president Mayawati expelled prominent OBC Muslim leader Shamsuddin Rain for indiscipline and encouraging factionalism. Rain, who was in charge of several mandal units, claimed his expulsion was due to not answering Mayawati's phone call. BSP leader Vishwanath Pal stated that Rain was warned multiple times but did not change his ways.
