Hours after the release of the much-anticipated trailer of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay-starrer Leo, which took the internet by storm, the movie is now in the spotlight again, but this time for the wrong reasons.
To mark the trailer’s launch on Thursday, the renowned Rohini Silver Screens in Chennai had organised a special screening of the same, offering free admission to fans who wanted to watch it on the big screen, as reported by India Today.
However, after the screening concluded and the scores of fans left the hall, videos started circulating on social media, revealing several damaged chairs inside the hall. Industry tracker Manobala Vijayabalan shared some photos and videos from the theatre, pointing out that the seats had been vandalised by Vijay’s fans. Many others also shared similar images and videos, highlighting the unruly behaviour of Vijay’s fans, driven by their excessive excitement.
Ahead of the trailer’s launch, several netizens had posted videos from Rohini Silver Screens, demonstrating the massive crowd of fans who had assembled there. Some also shared videos from inside the theatre, showing that it was filled to the brim with enthusiastic fans.
Initially, Rohini Silver Screens had planned to organise the event outdoors, in the car parking area. However, after the Koyambedu police refused to provide security, it was moved indoors.
In recent times, theatres like the Rohini Silver Screens in Chennai have been organising movie trailer launch events outdoors. Such events usually witness a large turnout leading to traffic congestion, especially in areas like Koyambedu which have wholesale markets and cater to a huge floating population.

Leo, which marks the second collaboration of Lokesh Kanagaraj and Vijay, has a huge star cast that also includes Mysskin, Gautham Menon, Trisha, Priya Anand, and Mansoor Ali Khan. Anirudh Ravichander, who has worked with Vijay and Lokesh in Master, is composing for the film.
Leo will be released across the world on October 19 and will lock horns with Anil Ravipudi’s Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer Bhagavanth Kesari.
