After the success of the critically acclaimed film 12th Fail, filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra has unveiled the trailer for Zero Se Restart, which documents the making of 12th Fail and showcases Chopra in action as a director. The makers unveiled the film’s trailer on Tuesday.
The trailer of Zero Se Restart offers a captivating glimpse into what Chopra calls the “Kahani Ke Pehle Ki Story.” It begins with scenes of 12th Fail receiving accolades and praise from celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, Kamal Haasan, Karan Johar, and Amitabh Bachchan. A voiceover reveals that the film almost didn’t happen, as it was rejected by five directors before Chopra took charge. The trailer then delves into behind-the-scenes footage, highlighting the dedication and hard work that went into bringing the film to life.
The documentary features Chopra directing on location at crowded railway stations and streets. In one memorable scene, he instructs an actor not to hold back and to throw a slipper at another actor. Another moment shows him scolding extras for looking directly into the camera. Chopra is also seen praising Vikrant Massey, the film’s lead, for his commitment. Massey is shown rubbing mud on his slippers to make them appear aged, to which Chopra quips, “Send this video to all Hindi film actors and tell them to age their own slippers if they want to be good actors.” The trailer doesn’t shy away from showing Chopra’s intense side. In one scene, he loses his temper at a man on the set, with his team stepping in to calm the situation.
Zero Se Restart had an impressive debut at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, where it received a standing ovation from the audience. Meanwhile, 12th Fail was based on Anurag Pathak’s book, chronicles the inspiring journey of Manoj Kumar Sharma, played by Vikrant Massey, who overcomes poverty to become an IPS officer, supported by his wife, IRS officer Shraddha Joshi, played by Medha Shankar.
Post 12th Fail’s success, Vikrant Massey recently announced that he plans to take a significant break from acting after completing two more films. While initial reports suggested he was retiring, Massey clarified that he was stepping away temporarily to focus on his family.
Zero Se Restart is slated to release in theatres on December 13.
