Dhurandhar Movie Trailer Out: Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, the trailer of Dhurandhar was launched in Mumbai on Tuesday, November 18. The trailer introduces the lead characters of the film with some graphic visuals that set the tone for the actor’s most violent film which is “inspired by incredible true events”. While the story is just suggested in parts, the audience gets to know the key players here.
The segue into the hyper-violent world of Dhurandhar is shocking. We are first introduced to Arjun Rampal, playing an ISI agent named Major Iqbal, whose introduction is enough to make you squirm. R Madhavan’s Indian intelligence agent Ajay Sanyal — modelled on India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval — is seen next, and his character gives the biggest clue for the film’s world as he is heard saying, “We must infiltrate the very core of terrorism in Pakistan.” Akshaye Khanna’s Rehman Dakait and Sanjay Dutt’s SP Chaudhary Aslam are introduced next, with Ranveer Singh coming in at the end as he says, “Tum logo ke patakhe khatam ho gaye toh main dhamaka shuru karu? (If you are done with your crackers, shall I conduct a blast?)”
Dhurandhar is rumoured to be based on the life of Major Mohit Sharma, who went undercover as Iftikhar and infiltrated Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s. A few months ago, Suhail Nayyar played a similar character in Netflix’s web series Saare Jahan Se Accha. After Madhavan’s look in the film was revealed, it was said that he’s playing a character based on Ajit Doval. In Dhurandhar, he is introduced the man behind the scenes who is pulling all the strings.
Ranveer Singh has not appeared in any leading roles since 2023’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The actor was seen reprising his role as Simmba in Rohit Shetty’s cop film Singham Again, and he played a cameo as a fictional version of himself in Aryan Khan’s show The Ba***ds of Bollywood.
Aditya Dhar is returning to direction, six years after his debut directorial Uri: The Surgical Strike, that fetched him a National Award for Best Director, and launched Vicky Kaushal into superstardom. In the last few years, Aditya has written and produced films like Article 370, Dhoom Dhaam and Baramulla.
Dhurandhar is set to release in theatres on December 5.
