Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi will be presented with the ANR National Award, instituted by the Akkineni International Foundation, during a massive event in Hyderabad on Monday. Constituted in 2005 in the honour of legendary actor-producer Akkineni Nageswara Rao (1923-2014), the ceremony will see Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who won the ANR National Award in 2014, present the award to Chiranjeevi.
Now, photos and videos from the event venue, showing the celebrities sharing heartwarming moments have gone viral on social media. In one video, Bachchan is seen greeting Chiranjeevi’s mother, Anjana Devi, and touching her feet in respect. Another clip shows actors Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Amala and Naga Chaitanya welcoming Bachchan as he arrives. Nagarjuna is the son of Akkineni Nageswara Rao and his wife Annapurna, in whose name he established Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad in 1976. Annapurna passed away in 2011.
Videos showing the Akkinenis showering their soon-to-be bahu (daughter-in-law), actor Sobhita Dhulipala, with love have also grabbed netizen’s eyes. Dhulipala recently got engaged to Chaitanya, who was previously married to actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and they will tie the knot soon. This is the first time Dhulipala is attending a public event as part of the Akkineni family. While one of the clips show Nagarjuna and her sharing a laugh, moments capturing her chatting with Chaitanya have also gone viral. In another video, Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan is seen greeting both Bachchan and Nagarjuna.
Also present at the event are actors Nani, Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishnan and Brahmanandam, and directors Nag Ashwin and Trivikram. The last recipients of ANR National Awards were Sridevi (2018) and Rekha (2019), who were presented with the awards during a ceremony held in November, 2019. Legendary Bollywood actor-filmmaker Dev Anand was the first person to be presented with the ANR National Award.
