Allu Arjun’s lawyer slams jail authorities for Pushpa 2 star’s ‘illegal detention’ post bail, police deny ‘misbehaving’ with the star

The actor’s lawyer told ANI, “Order copy of the high court clearly directing the Superintendent of jail to release Allu Arjun forthwith and Superintendent has directed to ensure to release but despite the order…they are not releasing him.”

Speaking with PTI after Arjun’s release, Reddy, the lawyer, said, “You should question the government and the department why they have not released the accused. The High Court order is very specific. Forthwith, the moment you (prison authorities) receive the order, (they should) release him. Despite the clear order, they have not released, they have to answer. This is an illegal detention. We will take legal steps.”

However, the Hyderabad police have a different version of events. According to them, Arjun’s actions led to the stampede at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, resulting in the death of one fan and leaving her son critically injured.

“Clarification regarding the letter being circulating in media addressed by Sandhya Cine Enterprise 70 MM to ACP Chikkadpally requesting bandobust on 04/05-12-2024 in connection with release of Pushpa 2. We receive a lot of requests for bandobast citing visits by some political personalities, film celebrities, religious programs etc. However, it is beyond our resources to provide bandobast for every event,” Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Hyderabad City, said in a press release.

After detailing the events that led to a stampede type situation, the police denied allegations of misbehaving with Arjun during his arrest. They said, “Another issue is that the police personnel misbehaved with Allu Arjun at the time of arrest is also not true. When police reached his residence, he requested some time to change his clothes. He went inside his bedroom, police personnel waited outside and took him into custody when he came out. There was no use of force or any misbehaviour with him by any police personnel. He was given enough time to interact with his family and wife and he himself came out and entered the police vehicle.”

Upon his release from jail on Saturday morning, Allu Arjun briefly addressed the media before returning to the comfort of his Hyderabad home, where his family awaited his arrival. He said, “I would like to first thank everybody for their immense love and support. I thank my fans. I am well, there is nothing to worry. I am a law abiding citizen, I respect the law, I will cooperate with them, and do the needful. I would like to give my condolences to the family, it is very unfortunate, we went to watch a movie, and due to an unfortunate incident, we lost a person. It was totally out of my personal control. I have been going to watch my films for the last 20 years, I have been there for 30 times. I will be there to support the family in whatever possible way. I know we can never cover the loss, but I will be doing what I can. I thank everyone for the support,” reported PTI.

The arrest of Allu Arjun has ignited a firestorm of outrage, with numerous members of the film fraternity, including Telugu star Nani and Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, rallying around the embattled actor. As the controversy continues to simmer, the outcome remains uncertain. However, in a heartwarming moment, Arjun was finally reunited with his family on Saturday morning. Videos of the emotional reunion, which show the actor embracing his wife and children upon his return home, have been circulating on social media.
