Telugu actor Allu Arjun has been arrested by the police in connection with a stampede during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya theatre in Hyderabad on December 4. The stampede had left 39-year-old M Revathi dead and her son critical. On Friday, the actor was arrested from his residence in Hyderabad and was taken to the Chikkadapalli police station.
A video of the arrest has emerged online, in which the National Award-winning actor can be seen exiting his residence and moving towards the police car. The actor’s father Allu Aravind, brother Allu Sirish, and wife Sneha Reddy were also present at the time of arrest. Before entering the car, the Pushpa 2 actor was seen having coffee, and speaking to his wife, making her smile. Allu Arjun was also seen having a conversation with the police. Arjun then kissed his wife goodbye and headed towards the police car. He was seen smiling while entering the car.
According to a police officer, the Pushpa 2 actor did not object to being arrested but informed the police that it was inappropriate of them to walk up to his bedroom. The actor added that they did not give him time to change his clothes or finish breakfast.

While filing the FIR post the stampede, Deputy Commissioner of Police of Central Zone, Hyderabad Police, Akshansh Yadav had told The Indian Express, “A case has been filed under BNS section 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) r/w 3(5) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt) at Chikkadpally police station based on the complaint of the family members of the deceased person. It is being investigated. Stringent action as per law will be taken against all the persons responsible for the chaotic situation inside the theatre leading to the death of a person and injury to others.”
Allu Arjun had previously approached the Telangana High Court seeking to clear his name from the FIR, but it has not come up for hearing yet. Apart from the actor, the police has also arrested the owner of Sandhya theatre as well as two of its employees.
According to the police, their probe found out that the theatre management allegedly didn’t make the necessary arrangements to manage the crowd. There was also no separate entry or exit made for Allu Arjun’s team.
