CID fans, assemble! The makers of one of India’s longest-running television series have decided to revive the show, and they announced this exciting news with a clip on Friday. Sony TV shared the clip on social media, featuring the show’s beloved stars Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava, and Daya Shetty.
The promo begins with Shivaji Satam’s ACP Pradyuman stepping out of a police car in the pouring rain, holding an umbrella. He is seen rushing towards a bomb site, with the camera zooming in on Abhijeet’s (Aditya Srivastava) intense eyes. The tension builds as the iconic whistle of the show’s theme plays in the background, evoking nostalgia among the show’s dedicated fans. Sony TV’s official Instagram shared the promo with the caption, “Mark your calendars – 26th October ko hoga ek dhamakedar promo drop.”
Fans were thrilled to hear that CID is making a comeback to TV screens. One fan commented, “Hamara favourite show cid👏👏👏.” Another fan wrote, “I am so excited ❤️🔥.” A fan also expressed hopes that the new series would bring back the entire original cast. He wrote, “FINALLY!!! Just want the whole cast in it 🥹.” One more fan wrote, “Finally Goosebumps. We Are Super Duper Excited For CID Season 2 @thedayashetty.”
CID began airing in 1998 and its last episode aired in 2018. Earlier, in an interaction with Friday Talkies, Shivaji Satam suggested that CID went off air after a successful 20-year run, possibly due to a rift between the show’s producer and the channel. “We used to ask the channel why they were shutting it down. We were neck-to-neck with KBC. Yes, the show experienced a slight decline in TRPs, but what show doesn’t? Before discontinuing the show, they tampered with its schedule. Originally, it aired at 10 pm, but they started airing it at 10:30 pm or sometimes even at 10:45 pm. This weaned the audience away, or at least they tried to. They likely had a problem with the producer and wanted to replace him. But for us, it wasn’t just about loyalty; it was about friendship. We rose up together. We were a team,” he said.
