As fans eagerly await the premiere of Shark Tank India Season 4 in January next year, the ‘sharks’ have been busy promoting the upcoming season. During a recent interaction, Anupam Mittal, a ‘shark’ who has been part of the show since its inception, took a subtle dig at Ashneer Grover, who was on the panel only for Season 1 and has not been part of the show since.
In an interview with Mashable India, Anupam was shown an old photo of the Shark Tank India Season 1 team from their appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati, where they met Amitabh Bachchan. The photo included all the ‘sharks’ from Season 1: Ashneer Grover, Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, Peyush Bansal, Namita Thapar, and Vineeta Singh. Reacting to the photo, Anupam made a remark that appeared to be aimed at Ashneer, saying, “Oh, this is from KBC. I know this photo is from Season 1 because some of the sharks aren’t with us. May their soul rest in peace.”
Anupam Mittal also reflected on the significance of meeting Amitabh Bachchan for the first time, saying, “This was the first time we were on KBC, and it was very intimidating for us because Mr Bachchan is a living legend. We had only watched KBC as fans until that point. It was a dream come true to meet him and hear him call us by our names. It is a highlight in our Shark Tank India journey over the last four years.”
Ashneer Grover, the former co-founder and managing director of BharatPe, left Shark Tank India after Season 1. Meanwhile, Anupam Mittal, the founder and CEO of Shaadi.com and People Group, continues to be a prominent figure on the panel.
Anupam’s remark is not the first instance of a ‘shark’ making an indirect reference to Ashneer. Namita Thapar had earlier addressed the topic in a tweet, stating, “One person doesn’t make or break a show… not me, not anybody… this show is about celebrating our entrepreneurs, job creators… it’s about teaching masses business concepts through beautiful stories of these nation builders.. focus on that & the hard work put in by the team.”
Shark Tank India Season 4 is set to premiere on SonyLIV on January 9. This season will see Viraj Bahl, the founder and managing director of Veeba Foods, joining the panel of ‘sharks’. He will accompany Anupam Mittal, Kunal Bahl, Namita Thapar, Ritesh Agarwal, and Aman Gupta.
