The makers of Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film Vettaiyan dropped the film’s prevue on Friday. The teaser gives a glimpse of the cast of the film which stars Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, in pivotal roles. The film, directed by Jai Bhim fame TJ Gnanavel, marks the reunion of Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth after 32 years.
From the prevue, with music by Anirudh Ravichander, it appears that the film will take on some heavy subjects, like the moral issue of police encounters. Director TJ Gnanavel has used the superstardom of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan for social commentary as the two stars are on opposing ends here. From the prevue, we understand that Big B’s character Sathyadev isn’t happy that encounters are seen as heroism, and Rajinikanth argues that encounters are a means to social and rightful justice.
This is not the first time when Rajinikanth will be donning the police uniform. His last hit, Jailer, too saw the superstar in a cop’s avatar. While the prevue gave quite an introduction of Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth’s characters, it didn’t give away much about Rana Daggubati and Fahad Faasil’s roles.
The film, produced by Lyca Productions, is all set to hit the big screen on October 10. This is the 170th film of Rajinikanth. Vettaiyan will release in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
