Director Vetrimaaran has finally put an end to a long-standing rumour that he is teaming up with actor Vijay for the actor’s last film after The Greatest of All Time. It was speculated that given the upcoming political journey of the Tamil star, he is teaming up with director Vetrimaaran for a political thriller. However, at the JFW Binge Awards, the director put a full stop to the rumour.

When Vetrimaaran took the stage, he was asked whether he was teaming up with Vijay for the last film in his career, which is referred to as Thalapathy 69. The director said, “I met him with a story a long time ago, and I don’t think that will happen. I have told this before, but it went unnoticed. It is not on. I don’t know with whom he is doing it.” The director said that he has wrapped up Viduthalai: Part 2, which will be released soon. When asked about the second part of Vada Chennai, he said it would happen.

Earlier, it was rumoured that Vijay is teaming up with Karthik Subbaraj for a film under the Sun Pictures banner, but the director announced he is teaming up with Suriya for his next. With Karthik and Vetrimaaran ruled out, it is now unclear who is going to direct Vijay next. It is also unknown if The Greatest of All Time, directed by Venkat Prabhu, will be his last film before his political journey.

On February 2, Vijay announced that he was beginning his political journey and announced his party name as Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam. In the statement, the actor claimed he had accepted a film and would complete and start his political journey. However, he didn’t declare the name of the film, which has led to many ongoing speculations.

He is currently working on GOAT, which has an ensemble cast starring Prabhudeva, Prashanth, Ajmal, Meenakshi Chaudhry, Sneha, Laila, Mohan, and many others. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music for the film, which opened to mixed response. Produced by AGS Entertainment, the film will be released on September 5.
