By now, it is common knowledge that Lokesh Kanagaraj is a certified Kamal Haasan fan. He proved that with Vikram, which helped Kamal make a comeback in the industry. Lokesh has spoken at length about how Kamal’s films have been his inspiration to become a filmmaker. Now, the director is all set to direct Kamal Haasan’s biggest competition–Rajinikanth. Lokesh and Rajinikanth are teaming up for Thalaivar 171, which will go on floors next year around April. In a recent interview, Lokesh was asked about Thalaivar 171 and his take on Rajinikanth.
When asked what Thalaivar 171 is going to be about, he said, “Personally, what I love about Rajini sir is his villainism. I am going to show that side as much as I can.”
Earlier, Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed that the story of Thalaivar 171 was written a long time ago. It is an experimental film, according to the director, who has started the pre-production work. Lokesh also confirmed that Thalaivar 171 will be a standalone movie and will not be part of Lokesh Cinematic Universe.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is busy with Thalaivar 170, which is directed by TJ Gnanavel. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, and Ritika Singh.
