Producer Fatima, wife of actor-musician Vijay Antony, tweeted on X for the first time after the death of her 16-year-old daughter. The mother of two said that if she knew her daughter would leave her so soon, she would have kept her close. She also added that she is unable to live without her. The tweet was met with messages of support from fellow celebrities and the public.
Meera, their elder daughter, died by suicide on September 19 at her residence in Chennai. Mental depression is said to be the cause of her unfortunate decision.
The post read, “If I’d known you would live only for 16 years, I would have just kept you very very close to me… Not even shown you to the sun and moon. I am drowning and dying with your thoughts, can’t live without you, come back to Babba and Amma. Laara keeps waiting for you. Love you, Thangam”
Choreographer Shobi and actor-model Sanam Shetty were among thousands who replied to the post with their condolences.
Earlier, Vijay Antony put out a statement mourning her death. He wrote, “My daughter Meera was of enormous love and courage. She has now gone to a better and more peaceful place devoid of caste, religion, money, envy, pain, poverty, and vengeance. She is still conversing with me. I died with her. I have started to spend my time with her. She will begin all the good deeds I am going to do in her name.”
Both Vijay Antony and Fatima have resumed their work. The actor was back to promoting his recent release Ratham. He brought his younger daughter Laara to the promotional event.
