Slumdog Millionaire named ‘Best British film’

Danny Boyle's 'Slumdog Millionaire' continued it's winning spree in the international award circuit by winning three awards at the annual UK film critics' awards,including the prize for 'Best British Film'.

Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ continued it’s winning spree in the international award circuit by winning three awards at the annual UK film critics’ awards,including the prize for ‘Best British Film’.

Danny Boyle was named best British director for his Mumbai based film about an young slum dweller attempting to win the top prize on the Indian version of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’.

Scriptwriter Simon Beaufoy took home the ‘Screenwriter of the Year’ award,reported ‘Contactmusic’.

However,the London Film Critics’ Circle named ‘The Wrestler’ the film of the year,with it’s star Mickey Rourke taking the best actor prize.

Kate Winslet added another award to this year’s wins by claiming the best actress award,which honoured her roles in both ‘The Reader’ and ‘Revolutionary Road’.
