Following the buzz generated by their 2022 film The Legend of Maula Jatt, Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan are set to reunite in Netflix’s first Pakistan-themed original series titled Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, as reported by Variety. The series is an official adaptation of Farhat Ishtiaq’s bestselling 2013 Urdu-language novel of the same name.
Joining the cast alongside Mahira and Fawad are Sanam Saeed, who previously worked with Fawad in the Zindagi series Barzakh, and Ahad Raza Mir, known for his role in the Netflix series Resident Evil. The ensemble also includes Hamza Ali Abbasi, Bilal Ashraf, Maya Ali, Iqra Aziz, Hania Aamir, Khushaal Khan, Nadia Jamil, Omair Rana, and Samina Ahmed. The show is produced by Dubai-based Momina Duraid Films FZ – LLC. It will be filmed in Italy, the UK and Pakistan.
The narrative will centre around Sikandar, a Harvard law student whose life takes a transformative turn, leading him to distance himself from others. His path crosses with Liza, an enthusiastic gifted artist burdened by a troubled past. Their encounter unfolds in Italy.
Interestingly, Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan has previously starred in the popular Pakistani television show Humsafar, also based on Farhat Ishtiaq’s novel. Their recent collaboration The Legend of Maula Jatt proved to be a monumental success at the box office, emerging as the highest-grossing Pakistani film to date.
Fawad marked his entry into Bollywood with the 2014 film Khoobsurat, alongside Sonam Kapoor. Later, he also played pivotal roles in films like Kapoor & Sons and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. On the other hand, Mahira’s has only starred in one Bollywood project, Shah Rukh Khan’s 2017 film Raees.
